Coastal & Leisure Getaways

India's Coast.
Sun, city energy, and somewhere to finally slow down.

Goa's palm-fringed beaches, Mumbai's electric streets, Pondicherry's quiet French lanes. India's coast holds more variety than most countries' entire interiors.

Who This Journey Is For

Not every trip needs
to be relentless. These aren't.

🌊

The beach + culture traveller

You want proper beach days but also history, food, and something to talk about when you get home. Goa's Portuguese churches and Pondicherry's French quarter deliver both, in the same trip.

🏙️

The city explorer

Mumbai is one of the world's great cities — layered, loud, and endlessly interesting. Dharavi, Bollywood, the Victorian Gothic quarter, and the best street food on the planet.

🛁

The decompressor

Tacking 5 days in Goa onto the end of a bigger India journey. Or simply coming for the coast. The Coastal trip works brilliantly as a standalone or as the perfect finish to a longer itinerary.

🥂

Groups celebrating something

A milestone birthday, a reunion, a long-overdue trip with your closest friends. A private beach villa, a Goan cooking class, a pace that lets you actually talk. The coast is perfect for it.

Sample 8-Day Itinerary

Mumbai, Goa & Pondicherry.
City energy, beach time, French finish.

Every itinerary is fully customised — this runs comfortably in either direction. Goa-only or Mumbai-only options available for 5-day add-ons.

01

Mumbai

Arrival & the Gateway of India

Arrive into Mumbai and transfer to your hotel. In the evening, head to Gateway of India — the harbour opens up, boats drift past, and the city begins to settle into night. Dinner in Colaba, where old-world charm and modern energy sit side by side.

02

Mumbai

Dharavi, Dhobi Ghat & Bollywood

Start with a local-led walk through Dharavi — a closer look at the industries and communities that keep the city moving. Visit Dhobi Ghat, one of Mumbai's most visually striking spaces. Optional visit to Film City Mumbai, where multiple film sets often run at the same time — organised chaos in the best way.

03

Mumbai → Goa

Fly to the Coast

Take a short flight to Goa — quick, easy, and worth skipping the long drive. Transfer to your beach property. The shift is immediate — slower pace, open skies, and the sea just steps away. Evening at leisure — sundowners with a view that doesn't need improving.

04

Goa

Old Goa & Spice Trails

Explore Old Goa — a reminder of Portuguese India. Visit the Basilica of Bom Jesus and Sé Cathedral, both striking in scale and history. In the afternoon, visit a working spice plantation — cardamom, nutmeg, vanilla — all growing together in the same landscape.

05

Goa

A Day That's Yours

Keep this day open. Beach, water sports, a Goan cooking class, or a slow cycle through the countryside — by now, you'll know exactly what you feel like doing. Goa works best when it isn't over-planned.

06

Goa → Pondicherry

To the French Quarter

Fly via Chennai to Pondicherry. Check into your heritage stay in the French Quarter. In the evening, walk along the promenade — quiet, breezy, and unexpectedly European in feel.

07

Pondicherry

Auroville & Two Sides of the City

Visit Auroville in the morning — centred around the Matrimandir and built on a unique idea of community. Later, explore the Tamil Quarter — vibrant, lived-in, and completely different from the calm, pastel streets of the French side.

08

Pondicherry → Departure

Final Morning & Journey Home

Take it slow — a last walk, a coffee, nothing rushed. Transfer to Chennai for your onward journey.

Three Coastal Destinations

Each one

Palolem Beach Goa

Goa

The Beach State

Palolem's crescent beach, Old Goa's Portuguese churches, spice plantations, and South Goa's quieter coves — far from the Baga crowd.

Mustard-yellow colonnades, excellent coffee, the Auroville community, and a beachside promenade that genuinely feels like the south of France.

Beach + Lifestyle

Goa and Pondicherry only — beach days, Old Goa's churches, the French Quarter's cafes. The trip for people who want to genuinely relax, not tick things off.

Mumbai's energy, then Goa's decompression. Two of India's most distinctive places — 55 minutes apart by flight. The classic west coast loop.

Coastal Add-On

5 days in Goa as the perfect finish to a bigger North or South India trip. You've earned the beach — here's how to do it properly.

What's Included

The details handled.
The pace yours.

🏨

Beach & boutique stays

Goa beach villas, Pondicherry French Quarter townhouses, Mumbai heritage hotels — chosen for character, not just stars.

✈️

Domestic flights included

Mumbai to Goa takes 55 minutes, not 11 hours by road. All inter-city flights arranged and included in your package.

🚐

Private transfers

Comfortable, air-conditioned car throughout. No shared shuttles, no waiting at taxi ranks, no negotiating fares.

Guides where needed

Mumbai and Old Goa are better with someone who knows them. Pondicherry is walkable and intimate — you may prefer to explore on your own, and that's fine too.

🍽️

Curated dining

Breakfast daily. Restaurant recommendations with reservations made — so you're not wandering hungry at 9pm in an unfamiliar city.

📞

24/7 support

One number to call if anything needs sorting. Coastal trips rarely need it — but it's always there.

What Travellers Say

Real travellers.
Real India coast.

★★★★★

"The Goa villa they found for us was extraordinary — a 200-year-old Portuguese heritage home with a private pool. Nothing like a resort. They arranged a Goan cooking class with the owner's mother, which was the highlight of our entire trip."

Lynn D · Canton, Georgia · TripAdvisor

★★★★★

"I'd been nervous about Mumbai — it has a reputation for being overwhelming. Our guide made it completely accessible. The Dharavi walk was one of the most eye-opening things I've ever done. Not what I expected at all."

Shanna · Mumbai + Goa Circuit

★★★★★

"We tacked 5 days in Goa onto the end of our Rajasthan trip and it was the perfect decision. North India is intense and beautiful — Goa let us decompress before flying home. Will 100% use RoamRani again."

November to February is the sweet spot — warm, dry, perfect beach weather. December and early January are busy but lively. March to May gets hot but the beaches are quieter. Monsoon (June–September) means dramatic skies and near-empty beaches — some travellers love this; others find the sea too rough for swimming. We'll advise based on your window.
Goa has multiple faces. The north (Baga, Calangute, Anjuna) is busy and social. South Goa — Palolem, Agonda, Colva — is quiet, beautiful, and almost entirely crowd-free. We always place clients in South Goa or heritage properties in Old Goa unless they specifically want the north. Panaji's Portuguese Quarter is charming and completely off the party circuit.
Mumbai is one of India's safest major cities. Crime against tourists is very low. It's large and can feel overwhelming — which is why we recommend a guide for the first day to get your bearings. After that, most of our clients feel comfortable exploring on their own. The Colaba and Bandra areas are especially walkable and safe.
Absolutely — and it works beautifully. Goa to Kochi is a short flight, and pairing beach time with the Kerala backwaters gives you two of India's most distinct pleasures in one trip. We often design Mumbai + Goa + Kerala as a 10–12 day journey. Tell us your timeline and we'll show you what's possible.
One of the best combinations we offer. North India is exhilarating and intense — the Golden Triangle and Rajasthan in particular. Finishing in Goa gives you genuine wind-down time before your flight home, and the contrast in pace makes both experiences richer. Many travellers tell us the beach days at the end were the ones that let everything sink in.
